Major Donors & Trustees Discuss Need for Leadership Change at Cornell as Educational Quality in Freefall

Issue No. 7 / April 7, 2024

So-Called "Fatphobia Research" from Cornell's Philosophy Department Is an Embarrassment to the University

"Fatphobia" a form of oppression, says Cornell professor

To understand how devoid of value a Cornell education is

becoming, read below excerpt from Cornell Chronicle Article

interviewing a Cornell Philosophy Professor Kate Manne:

QUESTION:  “In addition to describing the intersection of fatphobia with misogyny, you also connect it with anti-Black racism. Can you explain?”

CORNELL PROFESSOR’S ANSWER: “Fatphobia is a historically recent systemic form of prejudice. In the past, fatness was often celebrated and seen as a sign of wealth and luxury and prosperity…. Anti-fatness was born out of a need to differentiate white bodies in France and Britain from the Black bodies who were being so brutally enslaved. It’s not that fatness was first derogated, and then Black bodies were associated with fatness. It went the other way. Fat bodies and Black bodies were associated, and that was used to impugn fat bodies and fat Black bodies specifically shortly thereafter. That history is important to grapple with, both to see how contingent and historically recent fatphobia in its systemic form is, and also to see that it is really a powerful tool of anti-Black racism even today.”

Symptoms of Accelerating Educational Decline

Below are weblinks which characterize the educational environment now prevailing at Cornell University. It is no wonder that today’s employers are steering clear of Cornell graduates. Cornell increasingly distorts the values and views of its students while embracing falsehood and rewarding mediocrity. Teaching critical thinking and differing viewpoints has been cast aside. Instead, the imposition of political dogma and DEI indoctrination on students is now the primary mission of Cornell.  The below links tell the story of what Cornell has now become and provide insight regarding the major reforms which are needed to start the process of returning Cornell to its once esteemed position in American Higher Education.

As can be seen from a review of the above described conditions on campus, Cornell University’s decline has been rapid under the Pollack Administration. Alumni groups are now working to PREVENT young Americans from attending Cornell. Faculty are political activists – not scholars. Employers are avoiding Cornell graduates. Faculty and students are plagued with self-censorship and fear. Parents are in dismay. Yet, the Board of Trustees recently issued a “vote of confidence” in the current Administration. However, in private conversations among Trustees and Donors, talk of replacing the Cornell President abound. In the recent Lindseth Letter, an Emeritus Trustee publicly calls for removal of the President. Time will tell how long the Cornell Community will tolerate the ongoing decline of the University and its educational standing.
